Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Chemist (Emirati National holding a UAE Family book) to join our Innovation & Development team. This role requires strong foundation knowledge in process chemistry and characterization techniques along with analytical and problem-solving skills for troubleshooting in both research and manufacturing environments. The Research Chemist will support the characterization of our raw materials, polymer grades, and engage in research and development projects to innovate our products and processes. The research chemist will also work closely with our manufacturing team to resolve any technical challenges during the commissioning and operation of our manufacturing plant. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on industrial experience and contribute to the advancement of sustainable biopolymer solutions.

Key Responsibilities
Analytical Chemistry & Characterization

  • Perform analytical testing of polymers, raw materials, and intermediates using techniques such as:
    • Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC) – for molecular weight determination
    • Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) – for thermal properties
    • Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) – for decomposition analysis
    • Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) – for chemical structure identification
    • Mechanical and rheological testing – for performance evaluation
  • Interpret and document test results to support product and process development.

Troubleshooting in Manufacturing Plant

  • Provide technical support to the production team for resolving processing issues.
  • Analyze raw materials, intermediates, and final products to identify the root causes of quality or performance issues.
  • Collaborate with the engineering and operations teams to improve process stability and efficiency.
  • Participate in plant trials to optimize product quality and production parameters.
  • Document and report troubleshooting activities, findings, and recommendations.

Collaborative Research Projects

  • Work with internal and external partners, including labs, research centers, universities, customers, Sales and Technical Solutions team to optimize, innovate our products and processes.
  • Prepare technical reports, research summaries, and presentations.
  • Stay updated on new developments in polymer chemistry, bioplastics, and material science.

Qualifications and Skills
Education:

  • PhD in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong understanding of process chemistry and analytical techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with analytical instruments and polymer characterization methods.
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting in manufacturing and polymer processing is a plus.

  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to interpret experimental data.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
