Job Description

The Buyer is responsible for the consolidation of all purchasing and takes on purchasing of raw materials as a start from manufacturing and purchasing all other equipment, incidentals and consumables.

Key Performance Areas:

  • Source and replenish products to buffer stock level
  • Identify and qualify potential supplier
  • Negotiate supplier contracts with suppliers
  • Evaluate quotations, analyse results and recommend suppliers
  • Analyse product and supply chain cost
  • Identify cost reduction opportunities
  • Achieve cost reduction goals for product ranges
  • Evaluate supplier performance, stability and institutes improvements and corrective actions as required.
  • Manage supplier delivery and quality improvement initiatives
  • Assists in sourcing containers for new product launches

Experience:

  • 10 years relevant experience
  • Familiarity and knowledge of import/export and customs processes advantageous
  • Good understanding of technical specifications, supplier contracts, service level agreements
  • Proven track record at responsible level within supplier chain environment preferably in pharmaceutical industry
  • Good internal and supplier audit experience

Skills and Abilities/Behaviours:

  • Highly organised
  • Co-ordination of multiple tasks and prioritization
  • Results orientated
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Computer literate (MS Office)
  • English speaking (other languages an advantage)

Qualifications:

  • Relevant Degree or Diploma in Purchasing or Supply Chain Management
